Who it is for

It is not a test of school work — there is nothing to revise, and the results are not marks. Each year group has its own carefully trialled form of the assessment, matched to age. We are opening year group by year group, beginning with Year 6 (ages ten to eleven); further year groups follow as each form is built and trialled to the same standard.

How it works

Check your child’s year group, then purchase online. A quick date-of-birth check confirms the LCA is open for their year group. You’ll sign in or create a free Lighthouse account at checkout — that’s where the code and report live. The access code arrives by email within minutes, valid for sixty days.

Your child sits the three parts. They visit a simple web address, type their first name and the code — that is the whole journey. Practice questions with explained answers come before every timed section, and the parts can be done on different days.

Your Family Report arrives. A warm, plain-words picture of how your child solves problems, where they shine, and ordinary things that help at home. No jargon, no league tables.

Our honesty promises

Home sittings are reported as indicative — a first picture, honestly labelled.
We describe thinking in plain band words, never invented “standardised scores” — those only appear once our norming programme has genuinely earned them.
Results are a range on one day, not a fixed label — and your child never sees a score, only encouragement.
Please don’t buy practice tests: they change the number without changing the thinking.
